Sanon made her acting debut in 2014, with Sukumar's Telugu film 1: Nenokkadine, a psychological thriller, in which she played the part of Sameera opposite Mahesh Babu. [8] Despite the initial hype, the film generated mixed testimonials from critics [9] and was a commercial failure. [10] For her performance however, Sanon accumulated positive to mixed testimonials, with a The Times of India critic saying she "looks very" and "acts well". [11] In addition, a reviewer at Sify.com was a bit more neutral, saying she "looks stunning", though her performance is "okay". [12]

Later that year, Sanon made her Hindi film debut with Sabbir Khan's action-romance film Heropanti, opposite newbie Tiger Shroff. Despite only receiving mixed testimonials from a lot of prominent critics, [13] the film verified to be a commercial success at the Indian box office.
